hi,

Been off TriCyclen for a month (as directed by doctor to see if i'm allergic to it) and been back on for 4 days and my lips (mouth) is starting to be irritant and itchy again... So i'm definately allergic to it... So i need to go ask for another kind..Just wondering what everyone's been on and how affective it is, any side effects etc....

Thanks...

Hi noosiekins,

Well, let's see. I was on Ortho-Tri Cyclen and Otho-Cyclen, and those didn't work for me (I was moody and had no interest in sex!) I took Ovcon 35 and really liked it, but due to insurance issues I had to stop that one. I'm now taking Necon .5 and it's working well for me also.

You have lots of options - hormonal and non-hormonal - sometimes it's a trial and error process to see what works for you!

I don't know if Diane 35 is approved in the states. In Europe, Canada, Australia they use that pill exclusively for women not just for birth control but also if they have testosterone problems such as hirsutism. In Canada they just issued a warning for providers not prescrive Diane 35 only for birth control because its risks outwieght the benefits in regards to cardiovascular problems I guess or blood clots. Something like that. They advocate its use only in women w/testosterone related problems such as acne and hirstuitsm combined with the need for birth control in women so that the benefits will outweight the risks.
