I am new to this board, but trust your opinions. I know there are tons of great people on ivillage! :)
Here goes...
I was on Depo Provera for about 8 years, and it worked great for me except that I had relatively no sex drive in the last couple years of taking it. I decided last year late summer, or early fall (can't remember exactly when) to switch to the pill because all of a sudden I was having breakthrough bleading after no periods for 8 years. I was fine with having a period, but I couldn't handle that I would have it for a week, it would go away for two weeks, then come back for a week, and so on... so, I switched to the pill last fall. I took my first two packs of tri-norinyl and everything was fine except that my breasts were really sore and my periods were lasting about 7 days. My doctor said that the long periods could just be because I hadn't had them in so many years at all, but because of the breast soreness, she switched me over to Zovia. I have been taking that for about 5 months now, and don't have any problems with it, except that my periods are STILL lasting about 6-7 days, and are pretty heavy for the first few days with large blood clots to where I have to wear a panty liner, and change a regular absorb tampon about every 3 hours. I am trying to be patient, and each month keep hoping that this time my period will be a little shorter than last, but no luck. So now, I have tried two different types of pills, and my periods are the same on both. I am in the middle of switching insurance through work, and have to find a new doctor.. but in the mean time, does anyone have any advice, or have had similar problems. How many pills do i have to try before I get it right???!!!
Thanks for listening...
Janell :)

I’m sorry you are still having long periods. Long heavy periods might be an indication that the estrogen in Zovia is producing a lot of endometrium. You might have shorter periods on a lower estrogen pill such as Aleese or Mircette. Unfortunately finding the right pill does sometimes involve the trial and error testing of a number of pills. I hope you get a new doctor soon and find a pill that works well for you.
Good luck
Jill
