I am 28 years old and pregnant with my second child(girl), which is due in June.I already have a 3-year old boy. My husband and I are satisfied with a boy and a girl and don't want anymore children after this one.I've been thinking about tubal ligation, but I'm kinda afraid that I might be too young,or it may effect me sexually or there may be health issues due to my age. Is there a reason to worry? My mom keeps nagging me as well to go ahead and get it done because she did after her third child and was around the same age. Please give me some input. Thanks.

No, 28 is not too young. The main reason they wouldnt do a tubal on someone young is if they dont have any children(they may regret the decision in the future). Seeing that you have children, I am sure they will do it. In fact, when I went in to have my second, they asked if I wanted a tubal(it is easier to due right after childbirth because the uterus has pushed everything aside and the fallopian tubes are easier to get to). I didnt get one though because I didnt know if I wanted anymore. My husband recently had a vasectomy. I dont think it will affect you sexually. In fact, knowing that you wont get pregnant may decrease any anxiety! Let us know what you decide!

I recently had to make the same decision. I am 27. My husband and I have a 5 year old girl and are certain that we do not want any more children. I had to have a laparoscopy to treat my endometriosis, and was debating having the doctor do my tubes while she was in there. After doing some research in the matter, I discovered that there is some evidence that women who get tubal ligations while aged 20-29 may be at an increased risk of experiencing some post-tubal syndrome symptoms. I decided that I did not want to take that risk, however small, because I am very sensitive to my body's hormonal fluctuations. My husband agreed to get a Vasclip (www.vasclip.com). It was a very simple procedure that was done in the doctor's office under local anesthetic, and he felt fine within a day. A Vasclip or vasectomy has less risk than a tubal, because you must be under general anesthesia for a tubal. Also, vasectomy is much easier to reverse should you change your mind.

I agree with missfuffi. The vasectomy would be much easier. My husband had the procedure where they cut, burn, and tie the tubes. He had no problems what so ever. Just a little discomfort the first day. Didnt even take a tylenol!
