hey, i went off the pill about a month and a half ago, but my next period was on the EXACT day it should have been. i thought "yay!" but this period is already 2 days late...

is that normal? i figure it's just the oddities of going off the pill after 7 years...

A 28 day cycle length is "average". This means that if you take a whole lot of women & average out their cycle length, it will likely come to 28 days. Some women will have shorter cycles, some women will have longer cycles. Being perfect, like clockwork, without artificial hormones, is pretty rare, I think. I'd be willing to bet that there are more women (cycling on their own hormones) that have a 26 or 29 or whatever day cycle.

Since going off the pill last June, my cucles are 30ish days - by that I mean that I've had anything from 29 to 36 days between periods. 30 to 32 seems to be most common. I'm at 29 days right now, a couple days ago I had about 10 minutes of light cramping, so I know I'll see my period in the next few days, but that could be today or the beginning of next week!

I guess what I'm saying in this long winded response is - Yes, what you're experiencing seems pretty normal! So long as you know that you have no reason to suspect pregnancy, there is nothing to worry about. It takes time for your body to settle down after coming off the pill, & you might not ever have a perfect, to the day, cycle anyway.

Hi Erin,

Your body will take a few cycles to sort out what it wants to do since you are cycling naturally again. I think what you're experiencing is just the effects of your natural hormones. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck
