I just asked my doctor this question. She said that there are none. However there is no way of telling when you will get pregnant after stopping. Some women get pregnant within a month while it takes others over a year.
Actually, the medical community considers abortion as the removal or induced expulsion of a fetus. So an egg that doesn’t implant is not an abortion. The only side effect I had after stopping depo was that it took forever for my period to start again. (It stopped when I was on depo) I had to go back on the pill to make my body have a period. My DR told me it can take up to a year to have normal periods again.
I was on depo for six months and when I went off it hte only side effects I had were I that I was late by like a week or two for two or three of my following periods. Other than that i had none. I also didn't gain any weight on depo provera and I gain weight like crazy on triphasil and even gained weight with Mirena. Bizarre!
I have been wondering the same thing. My last shot of Depo was in September 2003, I stopped because I had been on the shot for over a year and spotted the entire time. I continued to spot until the end of January and have not had my period since! I know I'm not pregnant but the fact that I haven't had my period for so long makes me really nervous. Does anyone know if this is normal or should I be concerned about it??
