IUD for person with no children

Hi I posted a while back about needing a different kind of BC, I am on the patch now,but need something different because my other meds interfere. Well today I finally talked to my GYN about the IUD and she agreed with those of you who thought that it was a good idea. But I have never had a baby so she said they can be a little more painful to put in. She said she would do it, even reccomends it in my situation. But she said I might have a lot of cramping and discomfort during the procedure, That the other women who hadn't had children seemed to be a little worse off.

Has anyone here had any experience with this? I am such a baby when it comes to this kind of stuff. I think it is the right method for me, but the thought of any pain DOWN THERE makes my stomache turn. The doc recomended the paragard, its copper without hormones.

I welcome all opinions on this.

Thanks in advance.=)

The copper IUD is a bit smaller and less painful to insert than the hormonal IUD. My doctor insisted on inserting the IUD during my period when my cervix was open. I had a little cramping, but it was not bad at all. I have had a child, so that may have made it easier for me. I think if you take a couple ibuprofen before the procedure, it should not be too bad. Good luck to you. I really loved my IUD.
