What to expect...

Hi all - I have been on the pill for about seven yrs, and plan to continue for at least another 5 or more. I am worried about infertility after getting off the pill. Should I expect to have a hard time getting pregnant when my husband and I are ready?

For some, it make take awhile for their bodies to get regulated. When my husband and I decided to have children, I quite the pill three months before we were ready to try to get in tune with my body. By recognizing fertility signs you can better predict ovulation thus have a better chance of getting pregnant.

The pill itself doesn't affect future fertility. There are two reasons, I think, why people have that impression. First, it can take a few months for some women to start ovulating after they stop taking the pill. But, others start the very next month. Second, some women who have taken the pill have delayed childbearing until they were into their 30's, when , as the media is so fond of telling us (and blowing out of proportion!), a womans fertility is beginning to decline naturally.
