Placebo BC pills

Hi, everyone! I have a question regarding that last week of pills in a BC pill pack. I know that the last week of pills dont contain hormones, and they are just there to keep you in the habit of taking your pill regularly, until your next pill pack. But is this true with ALL Birth Control pills? When I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, I asked my doc if I even needed to take those last pills, and she said no because they are "inactive". But since then I have switched to Zovia, and I currently dont take the last weeks worth of pills. I just wanted to make sure that this is ok and I'm still protected. So, are ALL BC pills the same, in that the last weeks worth of pills are inactive, so you really dont need to take them? Thanks.:)

If the pharmacy gave you a patient information insert, you can read it and it will tell you if those pills are placebos. If you dont have the insert you can check with the pharmacist or call your dr. I am not familiar with Zovia. The only pill that I can think of that does contain a few pills in the "inactive" week that contains hormones is Mircette. ( side note: progstin only pills or minipills are to be taken continuously)

I'm sorry if this is a no-brainer, but you can only skip the last week of pills IF it's a 28-day pack.
