Hey there,

This may be redundant for the regular message board users but....I need to skip my period next month. Going on trip to see military BF that i havent seen since December! I am taking OTC-Lo...should i just not take the 4th week pills and start with week 1? My period week is not a fun one and it lasts for 6 days!!

Thanks,

Teri

With a tri-phasic pill (which OTClo is) this *might* work, but there is a good chance you will bleed anyway. The drop in hormones going from the week 3 pills to the week 1 pills *may* be enough to induce a period. This method is more likely to work with monophasic pills. (Though even then it desn't work for all women.)

One thing you could do (if you can get your hands on an extra pack of pills) is delay your period by one week by taking the third week from a new pack of pills, right after the third week of the previous pack, then taking the fourth week to have your period, one week later than usual.

What I think would be better, if you have time (you said next month, right?!) would be to skip your period *this* month. Go ahead & start the new pack right after the third week of the old pack. You might start bleeding, but it won't matter *as much* & your next period will be a week early, the week before you see your boyfriend!

Does all this make sense?!

Incidentally, just because you may get your period anyway does not mean you aren't protected from pregnancy! You're still protected so long as you don't take *more* than 7 - 24 hour days off from the hormones.

WOW! Thanks. Only problem is that I am in week 4 right now! Bummer. I guess i should have started this process earlier. If i start my new pack tomorrow instead of sunday maybe it will start my period week a little earlier. I dont know. I am stressin...

Thanks,

You don't *have* to take seven inactive pills, you can shorten your inactive week if you think it might help.

Thanks for your info. Looks like I may just be out of luck. :( I will see what happens.

Ah..the things women have to deal with.
