1st week bleeding on seasonale

I know you guys are sooooo sick of discussing Seasonale, but I can't seem to find an answer to my question here or anywhere else.

See, I started Seasonale last sunday, right when my period started. It's been a few days now, and my period has tapered off to a trickle, really just spotting at this point, but it won't seem to stop completely.

Now, if I was still on my old pills I'd be starting a new pack tomorrow, just as my period finished up completely, and this mid-week spotting would be perfectly normal for me. But since I've been taking active Seasonale pills for the last 5 days, I kind of expected the bleeding to stop altogether by now, like I think it did when i first started taking BCP all those years ago (when i did a first day of my period start).

It's not really a huge nuisance and I kinda figure I might just be one of the unlucky and this is the dreaded Seasonale BTB, but I'm not sure.

I just wanted to know if any of you could share your first week of seasonale bleeding experiences. I think since most women switching from another pill would be going from sunday start to sunday start they probably weren't still bleeding when they started the Seasonale pack. But since i went from a friday start to a sunday start (and a first day of my period start), my situation's a little different. anybody else start like this? anybody know if my period was supposed to stop, or is it normal for it to go it's standard length even on active pills?

anybody know when I can expect my bleeding to stop, if ever? Me and my boyfriend's 2 year anniversary is sunday, so i'd really like it if this spotting was over by then. ;)

thanks for your help.

Hi klannert, welcome!

I'm not on Seasonale, but from what members have posted here irregular bleeding the first few weeks on Seasonale is common. If you have a big weekend coming up you might want to be thinking about a romantic alternative like candlelight and dark towels. Ultimately it will depend on how your body reacts to the hormones

Good luck

Thanks for the input.

I've seen a few women here say that the only time they didn't have irregular bleeding was the first week, so I wanted to know if there were others like me out there.

oh, and candlelight and dark towels is a good suggestion. :)

My first week was kind of long. My period went into the second week, but it was kind of light for most of it.

There's no automatic shutoff valve, unfortunately! We've also heard the same from women who are just starting the pill for the first time or re-starting after being off. Sometimes it can take a while to get the spotting to stop, and for other women things just proceed as normal. There's nothing magical about Seasonale that would make the switch any different than switching to any other pill. It's impossible to say when it might stop, that takes the right hormonal circumstances between your body's own production and the artificial hormones. It's inconvenient, but not too uncommon.

Candlelight and dark towels are fairly common in our household too, and there's always the shower. ;)

Have a good weekend!
