Period Woes - is this normal?

I'm new to the board, but it looks like a great group of really helpful people!
Here's my saga: I have been on Loestrin for about 7 months, and I am getting married the end of July. I saw my gyno in March, and we set up a schedule for me to take 4 weeks of active pills this month, in order to move my period around for the wedding. At the very beginning of my third active week of pills, I was 6 hours late taking my pill. (I slept in, so shoot me.) Two days later I started what turned into pretty much a full period. I have continued taking the pills as we had scheduled (checked with the gyno and she said go ahead), and I am now in my "no pills" week. On Sunday, I am supposed to start a new pack of Desogen. (I've had btb and periods that stretch into my active pill days with Loestrin before, and the gyno decided to switch me now so I can hopefully be happy and regular before the wedding.)
Here's the thing - I haven't had my period at all this week. Right now I am only using the pills for regulation, so I'm not pregnant. (For future reference though, will being 6 hours late with a pill necessitate back up contraception?) Is this a normal thing? Since I essentially had a period two weeks ago, will I just not have one during my "no pills" week this time around?
Thanks!!
K

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding!
If you had what was essentially your period during your 3rd week (probably triggered by your late pill) then I think what you are experiencing is ‘normal’ for you, under the circumstances, on Loestrin.
It was good that you kept to your pill schedule and I think you should begin your new pack of Desogen on your normal start day as planned. Hopefully three cycles will be enough to accustom your body to the new hormones before your wedding. It’s impossible to say if you will have irregular bleeding during your first pack of Desogen. It depends on how your body reacts to the different hormones in your new pill.
Six hours late isn’t the end of the world but it can cause irregular bleeding. This board considers on-time to be +/-2 hours of your regular pill time. If you have trouble remembering your pill-time you might consider setting an alarm on a clock or watch or a reminder message on your cell phone or computer to help you remember. I hope all goes well for you! Post and let us know how you do on Desogen, ok?
Good luck
Jill
