Has anyone here had any problems with chloasma (mask of pregnancy) while on the pill? If so, how did you remedy this?

My sister and I both have experienced very mild chloasma on our upper lips from being on hormonal contraceptive. I believe she tried an over-the-counter banishing cream to try and bleach it out. i just wear a little powder over it and its appearance seems to be pretty well reduced. although, my skin tone is slightly olive, so it's not extremely noticeable. i think your best course of action is trying a bleaching cream and always wearing sunblock to prevent the patchy spots from getting any darker, as sun exposure will do pretty quickly. you might also want to talk to your doctor about changing hormonal formulations.

Thanks for the response. May I ask what pill you were both on? I've done some research and it seems to be the estrogen in the pill -- not the other hormone that causes this. I'm just at a lost. My doctor is not being very helpful.

I was on Ortho tri cyclen. Not sure about my sister. I'm pretty sure she was on Loestrin when she first got it, not sure if she still has that problem now that she's on nuvaring (she lives several hundred miles away, so we don't see each other much).
