Hello :) I've been taking OT-C for about 3 years now. The past few months, I have been experiencing about 2 straight weeks of btb. So I called my doc's office, inquiring about seasonale. They called me back telling me they are subscribing me Ovcon instead and I can take it in the same regimen as seasonale. I'm a little iffy because I researched it online and I only see press releases of when ovcon was approved by FDA. I'm the kind of person who likes to know some feedback on something before I try it - especially if it's a bc pill that I've never heard of. If anyone knows anything about this, I would appreciate some info. Thanks for listening :)

Hi Emily, Welcome!

An Ovcon chewable was recently approved by the FDA but Ovcon 35 oral contraceptives have been around for a long time. Unfortunately the distributor Galen / Warner Chilcott’s product site http://www.galenplc.com/products/index.html for Ovcon, Estrostep and Loestrin is still under construction. For some information on Ovcon see http://www.fpnotebook.com/GYN107.htm and http://www.wdxcyber.com/ncontr13.htm and http://www.fpnotebook.com/GYN85.htm I hope this helps

Good luck

Ovcon has been around a long time, you may just not have heard about it much because it's been around longer than the public version of the internet! It's 0.4mg of norethindrone, which isn't a real strong progestin, and 35mcg of ethinyl estradiol, which is what you're getting in OTC now. It's not as high in progestin activity as Seasonale, but you may not need that much progestin to do the job (too much progestin can cause as many side effects as too much estrogen). My gyn prescribes continuous Ovcon (back to back like Seasonale) for a number of his patients and has pretty good success. Maybe you see my gyn... ;)

It might just work fine! I hope so...
