stopped pills, missed period

I was taking ortho cyclen for about a year and a half and decided to stop taking it. So this was my first month off, and I am now late on my period. I was sexually active, but I used contraception: condoms. So I am quite sure I'm not pregnant, but I was just wondering if this is something normal - that your cycle takes a little time to adjust or if you can be late with your period once you stop taking pills. Thanks.

Hi therackel, welcome!

It's not unusual to be late or skip a period as your body is adjusting to cycling again on your natural hormones. If your cycles were irregular before OCs then they may be irregular again, or perhaps not. Once you're cycling naturally all sorts of things can affect the timing of your cycle, illness, diet, stress etc. you will just have to see how it goes. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck

28 days is merely an *average* cycle length. Running on my own hormones (since last June) I have a 30 - 32 day cycle. The shortest was 29 days, the longest 36. Your body may also take a while to start ovulating, which will delay when you get your first period off the pill.

If you don't believe you need to be worried about pregnancy, all is fine!!!
