Off the BC - now what?

Okay - my parents are taking me of BC pills because I was only using it for complexion and regulation. However, I have now started to use it for BC but they don't know that. My question is - my bf and I already use condoms but what other ways can we make sure I don't get pregnant. I don't want to make a dramatic change on him by saying we can't have sex anymore but... I need the assurance so... what other things can I maybe do or something simple that he could do to make sure we don't get pregnant? Thanks again for the help.

First, I need to ask a very important question. Are you over 18? You need to be 18 or older to participate on this board. I ask because if you are over 18, you *should* be able to get bc pills without your parents' permission, and there are ways to do so even if you don't have insurance.

Yes, I am over 18 and I do realize that I could get them on my own but I really don't want to do that. They cost a lot from what I know and it would be hard to hide from them. I am trying not to deceive them as much as possible - I am having sex and they don't know that so...

There are few different things that I have tried over the years that have worked. The obvious being abstinance (know you don't want to do that, just had to say it). You can also try spermicides or a diaphram (sp?). You can talk to your gynocologist about either of these.

But neither of these methods are 100% effective, so be careful.

Hope I have been of some help!

You are being responsible about being sexually active. I agree that it would be best if you didn't have to hide your contraceptives from your parents. Can you talk with your mom? As far as costs go, if you are a student or make very little money Planned Parenthood has a reduced price schedule that you might be eligible for or your local public health clinic can probably provide BCPs at reduced prices. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

I agree that I should talk to my mom but I don't know how. Both of my parents would freak out if I told them I was having sex. I really would like them to know but I can't. They would just about forbid me to see my bf and then I would have to go against them and make things bad because I wouldn't quit seeing him. Is there another board to talk about this on? thanks!!!
