I've been on depo since my daughter was born two years ago. I just had my last shot in March. This is the first time I have not had a period since I've been on. I have not had a period since before my last shot. Lately I've been having symptoms of pregnancy. So has my fiancee! I know they say the shot is 99% effective, but I am a little concerned since my clinic started giving test everytime you come for a shot. Has anyone had this problem? please help!!!!!!!

I'm not on depo, nor have I ever been so this is just an outsider, the first thing I will say is that no matter how many facts you read, the only way you'll have peace of mind is by buying the $15 dollar pg test at your local drugstore and taking it. Secondly, the clinic may test for a variety of reasons, my research says depo is 99.7% effective (source: http://www.indiana.edu/~health/depo.html ), that still means 3 pregnancies out of every thousand women, the clinic probably does the tests just to be sure, since many women stop their periods completely on depo, they may not know they are preg. I know on my bcp, I often get symptoms which I attribute to the pill, but in other circumstances would be pregnancy give-aways (I had a week of morning sickness for example), so your so called "symptoms" may just be hormonal changes. That being said for your own peace of mind take a test.

Best of luck to you

I currently having the same problem with the depo. I have been on it for 6 years and never have I felt like this. I'm scared to take the test. I feel pregnant, but the odds are slim. Only 3 in a thousand on depo get pregnant, but watch me be one of the three. Did you ever find out if it was the shot or pregnancy?
