Patch and extreme heat

Yesterday I applied a new Ortho Evra patch to my behind. Shortly after that I had to drive somewhere, and the seat was extremely hot. It was literally burning my skin THROUGH my clothing. Also the air conditioning stopped working shortly after starting the drive, so it was like this for over an hour. Now the patch is really wrinkled - not exactly coming off the skin, but more like it's warped and shriveled. Does anyone know about the effects of extreme heat on this thing? I know you're not supposed to store it at high temperatures, but I don't know about what the rules are after it's on your body.

I'm not going to have sex anytime soon (long-distance relationship), but I'd like to know if the hormones have been altered - such as whether they're still being steadily absorbed into my system or if they got released all at once because of the heat or what.

Thanks!

Hi psychobabylon,

I don’t know, but that’s a really good question to ask the Ortho Evra Customer Care Center at 1-877-323-2200. You should be able to wear the patch in a hot shower or hot-tub for a while but how that compares to your experience I can’t say. Let us know what the folks at Ortho Evra say, ok?

Good luck

Thanks for the number! They hadn't really heard of that exact situation happening, only that all of the people that they tested it on weren't restricted in their activities, so it probably included the occasional hot car. They recorded the lot number and expiration date of the patch I'm using and advised me to switch it with an emergency patch just in case. If anything weird happens, I should let them know.
