Tubal Ligation

Hi everyone! I'm 29, married 8 years with no children, and my husband and I have decided (after years of NOT wanting children) to go ahead and and proceed with tubal ligation. I don't need any advice on the actual decision, but is there anyone out there who can point me in the right direction to find good, up-to-date research on the types of procedures, and what to expect before, during, and afterwards? I'd love to exchange e-mails with someone who's been there, and hear their pros and cons about the procedure. I'm signed up to attend my HMO's tubal ligation class next month but I'd like to be a little more informed before I go. Thanks for all your help and have a great day!

Hi, I seriously considered getting a tubal ligation, but my husband and I eventually decided that it would be better if he got a vasectomy. It is cheaper and less risky, since he does not have to be under general anesthesia. He decided to get the Vasclip (www.vasclip.com), which helps to minimize pain and complications. Another thing you might want to consider is Essure (www.essure.com). It permanently blocks your tubes without requiring surgery. Good luck in your decision.
