BTB - I'm so confused!

Been on lots of different pills (Yasmin, LoOvral, Ovcon 35 and now Ortho Novum 1/35) and I've been suffering with BTB around 3rd week or so of active pills with each of them. Yes, I stayed with each one for at least 4 months before switching. I've been reading alot about it and I'm getting more confused the more I read. The posts on this message board have all lead me to believe that a higher progestin level, lower estrogen might work better for me. But, I just read an article on this site from an MD that suggests higher levels of estrogen clear up BTB, so now I don't know what to think.
Can anyone shed some light on this topic?
Thanks,

Take a look at http://www.fpnotebook.com/GYN87.htm It’s an overview of Oral Contraceptive-Related Uterine Bleeding Management. From that it seems in some cases additional estrogen for 1-2 weeks may help control irregular bleeding. On a long term basis for late cycle bleeding a pill with a higher progestin activity might be the thing. If I were you I’d have a talk with my doc about a pill change to one with higher progestin activity. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck
Jill
