Birth Control for Newly Married Couple

I recently got married and want to try a new method of birth control. We have previously used condoms, but I think that I may be allergic to the latex and I don't like how they can "interrupt" the moment. I've been on the pill also, but I don't like the idea of messing with hormones in my body, therefore, I don't like the idea of the patch, ring or shot either. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I agree with other posters than if you are looking for a very effective, long term, (5-10 yrs.) low maintenance method an IUD might be just the thing for you. If you are looking for something non-hormonal and shorter term you might want to consider a vaginal barrier such as a diaphragm or cervical cap. They are as effective as condoms and can be inserted well ahead of IC so you don't have a loss of spontaneity. If you are interested in learning more about diaphragms or caps there is information about them in the Board’s FAQs at http://pages.ivillage.com/cl-judie_rae/id1.html I hope you find a method that works well for you.
Good luck,
Jill
