Bleeding on actives

I started back on bc pills, OTC Lo, this month after about 8 years off. I'm 32.
Normally I have 3-4 day periods that are very regular & no btb. I have very bad cramps for 2 of the 3 days, can't leave the house. My cramps have gotten worse over time. I had been on Loestrin last time I was on pills and they were ok - no btb. But I'm worried my periods might be worse now as I'm older. This time on OTC Lo, I felt bloated and had light btb the 1st wk, and now I've had heavy BTB on actives Weds Thurs Fri Sat Sun and today the same amount not on actives. I've had cramping all those days. I still have until next Sunday until I start active pills again and I kinda hope I don't keep bleeding all wk. I am going back on Loestrin next pack, and I'm hoping that will work better - because of more progestin?? Or is this just normal 1st month on these pills. Scared. Would like easier periods on the pill.
Thanks in advance.
Anita

Btb and bloating are common side effects when starting OCs. If you can, you should stay with OTC-Lo for 3 or 4 cycles to give it a good try. That’s how long it can take for your body to adjust to the hormones in your pills and for the side effects to go away. By bailing after one pack you aren’t going to know if OTC-Lo would have worked for you or not, but it’s understandable if you don’t want to put up with the irregular bleeding to see. Switching back to Lowstrin might work. See: http://www.fpnotebook.com/GYN85.htm Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Never had that happen so I got freaked out a little.
