Good for you! You are right. You shouldn’t use anyone else’s hormonal contraceptives. What is the context in which you are asking the question? Are you on oral contraceptives now or do you want to start taking them?
If you want to start BCPs you should be seen by a medical practitioner, evaluated for BCPs and given your own Rx which should be determined by your practitioner’s evaluation and your medical history. If cost is a factor then you can go to Planned Parenthood or your local public health clinic and get pills at discounted prices. A partial or even complete pack isn’t enough to protect you for any length of time and if you are already on BCP and yours aren’t the same kind as your sister was taking then you will probably have side effects from the switch.
One possible situation in which you could use a partial pack is if the pills are the same brand/strength as the ones that have been prescribed for you and the expiration date on the pack is still some time off. Then you could use them as like-for-like spares (yellow/yellow, green/green etc) in case you loose a pill or vomit one. Does this help?
Good luck
