Has anyone been taking this and having lots of spotting? I've been on it 4wks and got all the symptoms that I was going to start a period, bloating, cravings etc and have been spotting for 10 days. Anyone had good or bad expiriences with this? I'm trying to decide if I'm going to stay on it. Thanks for all input.

Hi.

I'm in my 6th week of Seasonale (my first BCP) and have been bleeding now for almost 3 weeks. I first got really bad cramps at the time of when my period was supposed to come (end of week 3). I was bleeding slighty and it mainly was a brownish color for about a week. Since then, and for the past 2 weeks, I have still been spotting although it a true red color. The bleeding isn't painful or that much but it does require a tampon round the clock. I'm really into the benefits of Seasonale but this bleeding needs to stop. I keep thinking it will but it hasn't yet. I'm very interested in hearing from people about how long they had this break through bleeding. I don't want to give up on this but I'd like the bleeding to go away.

I'm a 14 year old(turn 15 in 2 months) and am just ending my 3rd week on Seasonale. This is the first BCP ive ever taken, and obviously I'm not using it for that reason. My doctor prescribed it to help regulate my hormones because I was having acne breakouts although I take very good care of my skin. Of the possible BCP's I could've taken, I chose Seasonale because the benefit of 4 periods a year was helpful and convenient for me. I have been very strict with making myself take the pill at almost the same time everyday, as to confuse my body less. I have experienced no spotting, or noticeable mood or weight change. The only side effect I have noticed is that it takes me a little bit longer to fall asleep, although I'm not exactly sure if that's due to the pill or the fact that I'm staying up later in the summer. I'm very curious as to what the scheduled period will be like, and also wondering if the lack of problems could be attributed to my age. I would appreciate any feedback on experiences with the placebo week, and if anyone took BCP's at a young age, what it was like for them. Thanks.

I am an ivillage lurker, but I thought I'd post my experience with Seasonale. I am on the second pack, and I've had absolutely no problems. I have had no spotting whatsoever, had a normal period when I was supposed to ( I guess it's week 12). I also have had no weight gain, mood swings, or cravings (I have always had a craving for chocolate; it didn't start when I started this pill.) I guess I am one of the few lucky ones. I think if I would have had all the problems all of you are describing, I wouldn't have stuck with it. I was on a 28 day pill for ten years prior to taking Seasonale.

Hi Bianca,

iVillage’s Terms of Service don’t allow anyone below the age of 18 to post on this board. We do refer teens to more age-appropriate sites: www.teenwire.com is a very good site for teens that is run by Planned Parenthood. www.cosmogirl.com and www.bolt.com are also on our list of sites recommended for teens and scarleteen.com http://www.scarleteen.com/ and gurl.com http://www.gurlpages.com/ are two others that are pretty good. Even though teens can't post here, we can't stop them (or anyone else) from reading the vast quantities of information that we do provide. For most people's questions, the answers are here, all it takes is a little looking.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Seasonale. I hope it continues to work well for you.

hugs

Hello everyone,

I have been taking Seasonale since January and am about to finish my second pack. So far everything has been pretty normal except for the fact that I have been spotting since I started taking the last month of the pill pack. Not continuous bleeding, but spotting every once in a while. It happened with the last pack of pills as well, but I've read that this is normal in the first months of taking Seasonale.

I have to say I like the convenience of not having a period very much. I have endometriosis and before I started Seasonale had intense pain each month especially around my period(and after surgery at that!). I was also on Lupron for 3 months before starting Seasonale.

All in all, I would have to say that Seasonale has worked really well for me and I am happy taking it.
