First probably a stupid question :) I'm just curious, if the first week of pills of otc lo is effective, why do they increase the dosage in the next weeks? I've had some nausea. Is that most likely related to the estrogen or progesterone? Just kind of curious if I should expect it to get worse because I'm going to be on a boat.
Also I am not in need of birth control this month, but may need it next month and I would like to change the time I take it. Would it be safest to change the time this month, or is it ok to start the next pack 12 hours late?

Here's my experience, I was on OTC Lo this month. The progesterin dose going up at the end of the month is supposed to mimic your body's own progesterone going up the last two weeks of the month before your period. The nausea is related to the estrogen dose, at least for me. It went away after about two and a half weeks for me but I didn't go on any boats. I would definitely take some over the counter anti-nausea medicine with you, just in case.
Have fun,
Anita
If I were you I'd move my pill-time now when you have no need of contraception. If you really won't need protection then you could move it to your new time 2 hours at a time or all at once. If you move the time all at once you might spot for several days. If you move it 12 hours at the beginning of your next pack (when you will need protection) then you will have to use back-up for the first 7 days. Ok?
Good luck,
