Hi Julia, Welcome!

The patch (Ortho Evra), the ring (NuvaRing) and IUDs: Mirena and the copper-T (ParaGard) are all very effective low maintenance methods of contraception.

The Ortho Evra ) http://www.orthoevra.com/ is a patch that is changed weekly. It releases a combination of progestin and estrogen through your skin. The patches are worn for three consecutive weeks and then there is a patch free week for your period. NuvaRing http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp is a small ring worn in the vagina for three weeks and removed for one for your period. NuvaRing has the lowest dose of hormones of any combined method in the U.S. It releases a combination of progestin and estrogen which is absorbed directly through the walls of the vagina. Mirena http://www.mirena-us.com/ is an IUD that releases a tiny bit of progestin and is effective for five years. Many women have very light periods and some stop having them at all while on Mirena. ParaGard http://www.paragardiud.com/ is hormone free with copper as the active ingredient. ParaGard is effective for about ten years. Or, DH could share the contraceptive responsibility by having a vasectomy which is a lot less invasive and costly than a TL. Let us know what you decide, ok?

Good luck,

      Jill
