Essure worked for me!

Hi all,

This is actually a follow up to a message I posted way back last November about the Essure proceedure.

First, the good news - I went to the hospital today for the follow up test to make sure my tubes are blocked and they are!!!

I had to go to Radiology and since I live in a fairly small community, this is actually a little new to both my doctor and the hospital radiology staff. (In fact, the Radiologist had to read the Essure Protocol booklet prior to doing the test!) The test itself was somewhat painful since they had to put a catheter in with a balloon end to blow up my uterus then shoot dye in to see if the tubes were blocked. I was supposed to have alot of cramping but so far nothing much but they did recommend taking some Advil/painkiller anything before coming in. The whole thing took about a 1/2 hour. This happened at 11:30 a.m. and I was walking out of the hospital at noon. Went home and layed down for an hour and then came back to work.

A short recap now - My proceedure to have this done went pretty well and I only took that day off work and was back the next day with no complications. The only thing that was odd was my misshaped uterus. The doctor didn't quite get the titanium screw in the right tube as far as the left tube. He was somewhat concerned with that one not taking and so my nerves were a little on edge while getting the test - hoping that the proceedure worked after all that. Usually the wait time to take the test is only three months to allow scar tissue to form around the screws. He suggested I wait longer just to make sure the right did form the appropriate scar tissue and so I wouldn't have to go back to take this test again (good for the doctor! - he was right, I wouldn't want to take it again!).

Anyway, that's the just of it. If anyone has any questions I can answer I'd be happy to discuss anything with anyone curious about this birth control option. Oh, and, my Blue Cross/Blue Shield covered most of the proceedure - about $500/600 out of my own pocket.

Hi foxtrotter, welcome back!

Thanks so much for sharing your Essure experience with us. I'm glad it went well for you. You are the first to have the procedure and post how it went.

Thanks again for sharing!

Hugs,
