Quick question

Hi all, I am new to the board and have a quick question. I have been on my pill for the past 2 years and this past month I missed 3 of my pills. (missed 2 took 1 then missed 1) I am now experiencing heavy bleeding almost like a period. It is also lasting longer than a normal period would. Could this be my period because I missed 3 pills? Or something else? Has this ever happened to anyone else?
Please help I am really concerned. Thanks

It is quite normal to experience irregular bleeding when you miss 2 pills in a row. You have confused your body into thinking it was time for your pill-period. In effect that is (or was) your period (actually it's withdrawal bleeding) which is usually triggered by the lack of hormones during your hormone free week. It will last until your body sorts out what it’s going to do now that you are adding artificial hormones again. You will probably have another bleed when you reach the end of the active pills in your pack. I hope you have been using back-up protection for the next 7 days after you missed your pills. If you need a reminder to take your pills you could set the alarm on a clock or watch or a reminder on your cell phone or computer to jog your memory. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
