Hello all,

I was wondering how the patch works...I know you stick it on and its supposed to stay on for a week...Has anyone tried this?? Any info would be appreciated... Also, on orthotricyclen, i had better skin and gained a little weight

...Does the patch have same side effects?? and how reliable is it?

Hi monymolyn2, welcome!

There has been a lot posted on this board about the patch, Ortho Evra. You can search the archives by putting 'Patch' or 'Ortho Evra' in the search box at the top of the screen. Have you looked at the Ortho Evra website? It’s: http://www.orthoevra.com/

Good luck

Hi :)

I have been using the Ortho Evra patch for 5 days now. So far I have not boticed any side effects too horrible to bear. The spot the patch is on is itching a little now that it has been on for a few days (just started itching yesterday). It's kind of early to say, but so far I have not had nearly as much trouble with the patch as I had with the pill. I took the pill for 3 years and had awful problems with mood swings and nausea througout that time period.

Your doctor can give you information and a free sample if you decide you want to try. Good luck with whatever you choose.

hello. i can give you my experience on the patch. I was on it for about 8 months and i didn't have any problems up until about the 6th month. i began to feel very bloated the week before my period and my breast swelled and were very painful. I was moody and hungry and to be honest i felt pregnant. But i got my period as usual so i decided to stick it out for a few more months. It was weird because the week i had the patch off i felt great, just like myself again. So i knew it had to be the hormones. Just recently I switched to Yasmin. As far as the patch staying on, it does. It was nice to not think about taking birth control everyday, but I was always cautious of the patch falling off.

Thanks and goodluck

Hello-

I have been on the patch for 1 year now and I love it. The first birth control I tried was Ortho Tri-Cyclen and it made me a total mess. Then I was on the Othro-Novum 1/35 for a long time, but I got sick and tired of always having to take a pill every single day. So I wanted to try the patch. At first I was so worried about it falling off that I constantly checked it. I only wore it on my butt for 1 week because I was too worried I couldn't see it if it came loose. Now I just put it on and go, no worries.

Now, after 1 year, the only side effects that I have are just a little nausea the day I put the patch on, but if I do it before I go to bed, i'm fine. What I like most about it is that if your are sick with the flu, it still works. You don't have to be worried if you digested it before you tossed your breakfast.

Hope this help, and good luck!

I've been on the patch for a month and a half and I'm a little disappointed with it. The first month was great. I had no side effects and I loved knowing when my period was going to come. This month though, I've had severe mood changes where I'm not happy or excited about anything and I have no motivation (I'm usually a very motivated person). My sex drive has also gone down considerably.

So even though the convenience is great, the side effects just aren't worth it for me and I'm considering going off of it.

That's just my experience though, everyone's body will react differently. Good luck!
