I posted this on another board and didn't have any responses (it was dead) so here it goes again:

Info on myself: I'm married, and I've been on OTC for a little past three years. I haven't ever really had to many of the side affects of BC so I'm wondering how likley that sudden nipple sensitivity ( I've never had this before..it's like "ouch" don't touch that :) is because a side affect of BC showing up? Or another cause could be that on Friday and Saturday I wore a new sports bra..but I haven't worn it since and it's now late Tuesday.

I have 6days until I'm supposed to start the sugar pills. I'm concered because I have had light period cramps last week and then they went away. I'm planning on take a PG test after AF comes and goes.

Both me and my husband don't think I'm pregnant but never know. Last month I did have a few days where I was switching to a new pack and had a couple of days that I wasn't taken anything (nothing happened with me and my hubby these couple of days..and then when I recieved my new pills took two in one day and umm.. had intercourse with my husband..

So I guess there is a slighty chance?

--------

UPdate: Now it's Thursday so I'm figure it couldn't have been the sports bra because it would have gone away by now...it's quite annoying! grrrrr

Hi lemonscents, welcome!

When I have had nipple tenderness from a 'costume malfunction' it has gone away in two or three days. The several days that you missed while switching packs could be significant. It is very important that you go no more than 7 24-hour days between active pills to retain your protection. Whenever you miss a pill (especially at the first of the pack) you should use back-up for at least 7 days of proper pill use. That delay between active pills could have been enough to cause you to ovulate a few days later so The IC shortly after you missed your pills could have put you at risk. You can test if AF doesn't show or if it has been longer than 10 days after the IC in question. I hope you get the result you want. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck

Hum. I think it is very possible that you might be pregnant. My sister recently miscarried and the first thing she noticed several days before missing her period was her nipples. She said they were super super sensitive and totally different in color. She also said something like she didn't know how anyone could not know they were pregnant because her nips were so weird and painful, there was no way she could have not noticed.

I think it could be that, or it could just be something weird. Some periods my breasts are sore, most times they aren't.

Just to be safe, I wouldn't drink or smoke until testing.

Also, my sister missed the first pill of her new pack (the week before getting married) and took two the next day. She called her doc and he told her she MUST use condoms for the entire month if she wanted to avoid pregnancy. So they had to use condoms on their honeymoon, after not using them for 6 years! It sucked.

Best of luck. I don't know what it could be other than pregnancy, something quirky, or the sports bra. I do think its likely that it could be the new sports bra, as nips are so sensitive and a new sports bra on a long jog might irritate them for several days. You know how sometimes people's nips bleed during/after marathons.

Thanks for answering!

Okay I asked on the pregnant board and no one really knew what to tell me (well I asked about the cramps and that was before I had the sensitivity)..but one person said that because I'm on BC that I will get my AF even if I was pregnant. So I should take a HPT even if AF shows up. Is this true?

I did take a pregnancy test when I had the cramps but it came out to be negative, but I was told that was way too soon to tell. So I will go get a pregnancy test and try it after AF.

If I was pegnant it wouldn't be a bad thing but I wasn't planning on have kids until a few years. I'm sure my mom and mother in law will be happy though.

Thanks!

If you are pregnant, you are HIGHLY unlikely to get a period, on or off the pill. If the period is very light, you might still want to test, but if it is normal you aren't likely pregnant.

Good Luck!
