Question about Birth Control Pills
| Sat, 06-12-2004 - 10:38pm |
I just got a new job where I start work at 7:30 am. I used to take my pill at 9 am but now I can't take it at that time. Can I start taking my pill earlier?? Is it going to be noneffective if I change in the middle of the pack? I am going to visit my bf at the end of the month, so I will start a new pack the last week of June.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

I've been told that you can take your bcp within a +/-2 hour period, which is if you were taking them at 9:00 a.m., you can take them as early as 7:00 a.m. and as late as 11:00 a.m. and still be fine. After that I am almost certain you can continue taking them at 7:00 a.m. and it would still be just as effective. At least that's the way I understand it. Good luck
Lengthening the interval to more than 24 hours is where there can be a problem. However, moving your pill-time in the direction that will result in taking your pill less that 24 hours from the old time is fine and you can change it at any time. As another poster said with combined estrogen/progestin pills a window of +/-2 hours is considered on time.
Good luck
