I am about three weeks late on my period and I had a question: what are my options? Is there anything that I can do that could do, short of actually having an abortion, that could terminate the possible pregnancy? Start taking the pill, for instance?
I'm pretty worried that the only two possible options right now are either going along with a pregnancy or having to go to a clinic...I know that there are day after pills, but it's a little beyond that...is there anything that I can do within the first 3 or 4 weeks of being late?

Your options are:
abortion:
Within the first 63 days of pregnancy, you have two options for ending a pregnancy — medical abortion (A medical abortion is either given in the form of a pill or injection. Sometimes called RU-486 or Mifepristone. Mifepristone in tablet form or an injection of methotrexate or abortion by vacuum aspiration.) After 63 days, vacuum aspiration is your only abortion option during the first trimester. (www.plannedparenthood.com) Medical abortion would be taking the pill RU-486 to terminate your pregnancy.
Your other options are to raise the baby or to give it up for adoption.
You will need to see a doctor if you are pregnant, and you may want to see the doctor even if you are not pregnant so they can put you on the Pill to prevent future pregnancies and to keep a regular cycle. If you choose to keep the child, you will need to take care of your body and get the medical attention that you need while being pregnant.
I wish you luck in your decision.
First, missing a period is not necessarily an indication of pregnancy. We all can have anovulary cycles occasionally or poor nutrition can cause secondary amenorrhea, the cession of menstrual periods. However, if you have been having unprotected sex then you may well be at risk of pregnancy. Have you taken a HPT? They are very accurate and testing will let you know exactly where you stand. Once a fertilized egg implants hormonal contraceptives will not terminate the pregnancy.
If you haven’t already I’d test immediately and see. Then, if you need to, talk to your doctor or Planned Parenthood about your options. You can find the closest PP Clinic from their locator http://www.plannedparenthood.org/Zip.htm I hope you get the result you want. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

I agree with dani06wc.. you mentioned that you were late but not that you are sure you are pregnant. Sometimes worry and stress stops or delays a woman's period. I can imagine that wondering if you could be pregnant would do it. If you haven't taken a pregnancy test I would suggest you do so right away because you may be worrying for nothing. Best of luck to you.
