Blood Clot in the Brain

I am looking for some help.

My friend is 24 and has had massive bleeding due to blood clots in her brain. The doctors seem to think it is from her starting Birth Control pills. She just switched to the pill 2 months ago after stopping the Depo shot. They have said she will not make it past 48 hours.

Her husband of 3 weeks is having a hard time with all of this. I am looking to find people who have experienced this same thing. If you know of anyone who this has happened to please let me know.

Thank you.

First of all - I am so sorry for this sudden, horrible experience. I don't have words to express my sympathy, I am very sorry for what you and yours are dealing with. For my part, I hope the doctors are wrong and she comes through. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

As for whether this happens, if you keep scrolling down (not on this actual page, but if you hit the "more" button, you will see a thread entitled "The pill almost killed me". It goes into more detail about what this one ivillager experienced.

Information like this is helpful to know for all of us women. I just wish there were a way to know who was or wasn't predisposed to such horrible tragedies. :-(

I am so sorry about your friend. What a terrible tragedy. I will pray for all of you. We have had a couple recent posters who experienced blood clots in their legs and lungs. It is more commons to form clots in the veins in the legs, which can then travel to the lungs. It is much rarer to form clots in the brain, but it can happen. I am surprised that a clot would cause such massive bleeding - it must have caused a pressure build-up that lead to a rupture? I know of someone who had a brain aneurysm that ruptured, but it was not related to pill use. It was very touch and go for a long time and she spent a few months in intensive care. But she pulled through and has made a good recovery, despite the doctors saying that her odds were not good. I pray your friend does the same. God bless.

Hello. I'm the one who the pill almost killed. I'm so very sorry, and I wish I had the magic words to make it all go away, to make it all better, but I don't. Nobody really does. Just remember that healing takes time, and everything WILL be ok. I promise you that. I've been through tough times, losing people I love, but it all gets better. Just give it time. Take care, hon.
