Anyone use the patch?

Hello,
I happened upon this board and thought I would ask this. I started the patch in April after going through a totally surprise pregancy that ended in a tubal. I used to take birth control when I first got married- first it was Ortho Tri-Cyclen and that gave me cramps ALL month long. Then I tried something with not so high a dosage of hormones and it was ok for me, but I wasn't covered under insurance, so I just ran out. I went four years without using anything. Now I'm using the patch and it's really convienient and I don't really think about it like I would with the pill, but I can't make myself lose the weight I've gained. I've been working out and eating better for two months and haven't lost anything. My other frustration with it is that for two weeks out of the month I'm just miserable. The week before I'm supposed to take it off for a week my breasts hurt SO bad that they wake me up in the middle of the night every time I turn over. And then I get such migraine type headaches when I am off the patch for the week off. Does anyone else experience this? I think I don't want to use these anymore, but I can't stand any of the pills. Someone told me to try Depo, but I'm too worried to try that because SO many people talk about the extreme weight gain you have.

If you're sensitive to the hormones I wouldn't recommend depo. I'm on a low dose pill because I am also sensitive. When I was on depo I gained a lot of weight. The first 3 months it was only a little weight gain, so I worked out religously and went on a strict diet. Two months later I had put on an additional 30 lbs! It's taken almost 2 years on a low dose pill with diet and exercise to get all of it off.
When I went into the doctor after I gained all the weight, she explained that because the dosage is so high it causes those side effects. So that's why I think that if you're sensitive it might not be a good idea.
I think I may call to see if I can get a low-dose pill. I just hate that weight gain and no matter how much you work out, it doesn't even help!
