i'm new and need help

hi, i am a new member and need help. i just had my baby girl on may 18, 2004. my husband and i have been together for seven years and we never used protection. well, now after my baby was born i started taking birth control pills. three weeks after the birth of my daughter, i quit bleeding and started taking my pills. after a week i have started bleeding again and i know that you can have break through bleeding, but i have been doing this for over a week. someone told me it is because of the birth control, but i am really heavy and want some relief. how long can this last? or if you have any other advice i would really appreicate it. also, off the subject. like i said i am a new member and i was wondering if i could see the replies to other peoples questions or comments. if i can, then how can i do this?

Your breakthrough bleeding is probably due to your pill, but since it's heavy and has lasted for more than 7 days you should probably talk to your doctor. You might not be getting enough estrogen to maintain and build the lining of your uterus.
as for seeing replies, you click the link below the message that says "read next," or one of the numbers (each corresponds to a reply). you can also pay for a membership to iVillage where you can view all responses on one page. Hope this helps!
Congratulations on the new addition to your family! I agree with Klannert, you should talk with your doc about your heavy bleeding. women beginning hormonal contraceptives may experience side effects but they should disappear in about 3 cycles. However, I think that since you just had a baby your body is still trying to get back to its normal hormone levels and that could be complicating your situation. Let us know what your doc says, ok?
Good luck
