Weird period on OTC lo

I recently switched from OTC to OTC lo hoping it would help with breast enlargement problems (it hasn't). The first month on the lo, I started spotting on Thursday the third week (before I'd started the placebo pills). I spotted about two drops a day for eight days. That was the only "period" I had. When I was on OTC, I would start on Wednesday or Thursday of the period week, and I'd bleed for about 5 days, not real heavy, but much more than I experienced on the new pills.
I decided to give it another month and see what happened. Well, I spotted again on the Thursday before the week I should have my period. Then I woke up with cramps Friday, but I haven't bled any more since. I started the period week pills last night.
Is this normal on this pill? Should I be concerned? Should I go back to OTC? Is the lo really better as far as side effects? Because my breasts are still swollen, and I've had terrible PMS the last two months.
I was also wondering if either pill comes in a generic equivalent, because I just got new health insurance the actually does cover my pills (shocker!), but unless I can get on a generic one, my co-pay is nearly what I was paying anyway.
Thanks for the answers!

I think your body is still adjusting to the hormones in your new pills. It can often take 3 or 4 cycles to adjust. There are generics for OTC (you can ask your pharmacist or doctor what they are) but since OTC-Lo is relatively new I don’t think there is a generic for it yet. If I were you, since you have already invested at least 2 cycles, I’d hang in there for another cycle or two to give OTC-Lo a good try before trying another pill. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
