Condom broke, have a question

This is the first time my bf and I have ever had an accident. It's not fun! On sunday, we had sex and the condom broke, and he did come inside me. I noticed that things were, erm, a little wetter than usual, but didn't think anything of it until he told me a little later that it had broke. I'm on the pill (dianne 35), but I waited 5 hrs in the emerg room to get a prescription for ECP anyway (I was prescribed Plan B). I felt a little less anxious after that. Anyway, I'm not sure how familiar y'all are with Dianne, but you take it for 28 days then go 7 without taking any. I was supposed to start that on sunday, but then this happened...Would it hurt to continue taking the pills (my regular bc) for a few more days to be safe? Or does it matter?

hi moonlitday, welcome!

I think, since you are on Diane 35, you should ask your doctor what you should do. Most women on Diane 35 are under the close supervision of their prescribing physicians. If you were on any other combined (estrogen/progestin) pill I would say continue on your regular pill schedule and that may be the course that s/he recommends, but I think you should ask. Let us know what your doc says, ok?

Good luck

that's the problem. I live in eastern canada. There's a dr shortage here, there's no way I can get in to see him until next week. And that's being optomistic. Last time I was quite sick with an eye infection and it was four days before he could see me for that. And by that time things had mostly cleared up on their own. All the dr's are like that here. Too many patients. *sigh* . I've never had any problems while on dianne, and I've not been closley monitored either. I get my prescrip for a year at a time. If I need another he writes me another. It's a very common birth control pill prescribed up here. I don't know anyone on the combination pill really. Ah the joys of the Canadian Healthcare System.
