OK so I have been on Yasmin for over a year now, and lately I have been experiencing such terrible, persistent nausea that can last for days. I have been to a doctor and he can't find anything physically wrong with me, and I have heard that your body can eventually reject your birth control for whatever reason. Has anyone else been through this? I want to stop for a month and see if that helps, but at the same time, I don't want to get pregnant.. we use condoms and are careful, so I think we'll be ok but I am just so nervous. Thank you in advance for any help

I was on nordette for almost a year and then I was so dizzy and sick to my stomach that I called my Dr for something else. I'd call them before taking yourself off any birth control. They might even get another prescription for you over the phone. That's how I got on the patch. :)

Just a thought,

Good Luck,

Ann

After 3 weeks on Yasmin I started getting terrible nausea and loss of appetite. My doctor finally took me off it after 3 1/2 months, and then it took another good month before the nausea went away (I stopped OCs altogether rather than switching).

I take Yasmin but haven't experienced that. It may be that its chemisty is not working for you and you could be on something else that suits you better. I'd call the Doctor before stopping all together. CL-Judie and CL-Jill have commented on this issue before, and may be able to give you some guidance.

Hi clearstarrysky84, welcome!

Our bodies do change over time so perhaps that is what is happening. You could stop OCs for a month or so and see if the nausea disappears. Using a good vaginal spermicide cream or gel (not the stuff that comes with some condoms) along with condoms is very effective. I hope you are feeling better soon. If you want to switch hormonal methods a lot of members like NuvaRing http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp That might work well for you. Let us know how you are doing, ok?

Hugs,
