Depo, does it do more harm than good?

Hi everyone (this is my first post on this board!),
I had a question about Depo..I have been on Alesse 28 since Ocotber of last year(2003) but I am having a hard time remembering to take the pill...and have tried several different ways to condition myself, but nothing seems to work. I was wondering about Depo and if it would be worth it. I am only 20 years old and I would like to have children in the future, would Depo decrease chances of getting pregnant in the future? Also what are the side affects, and is it true that there is a higher chance of getting breast cancer if you take Depo? I know this is a ton of questions but I think it would save me a lot of anxiety over remembering whether or not I took my pill and would make me and my BF's sex life more spontaneous....

Last year, i also decided to try depo shot. i only recieved one shot and i hated it. i know i gained at least 8 lbs. or more from just one shot. i had spotting almost 2 months after the first shot, too. as far as excellent birth control, it is very effective. now, i am back on the pill, and enjoy the pill far more. i would strongly suggest maybe the patch or something, if you can't remember to take the pill. good luck.
