Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and acne

I just switched to Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo from Ortho Tri Cyclen, mostly because of the decrease in estrogen in these Lo pills. I was using Ortho Tri Cyclen, however, over other pills because of its wonderful effect on my skin. I had switched to Tri Cyclen previously and my skin was bad again. I'm just curious if anyone has had a similar experience (or better?) on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo? All research I've done of the subject shows this effect has not yet been studied.

Thanks,

I recently switched from ortho-tri cyclen to ortho lo and have experienced skin problem. I have never been one to break out, you know, just getting the occasional zit or something. However, over the past week my face has abnormally broken out. I just started using ortho lo two and a half weeks ago. I thought it was due to the new birth control as well. I am going to the doctor today to ask them about it. So, I guess the possibility its the new birth control making us break out, could be true...

I was switched to OTC Lo from OTC and it also made my skin break out badly and my shoulder and chest as well.

On Lo, my face would not break out for the first set of pills and then the break outs would get worse as the hormone levels increased...until it was really broken out by the last set of pills in the pack. It would take the placebo period to clear up again. I had terrible mood swings with Lo and low blood sugar episodes even though my doctor said it couldn't be the pills causing the low blood sugar. As soon as I stopped the BCPs, I felt better again. I don't think I can take the hormones anymore. I used to use OTC in my 20's without any problems and it cleared my skin. Everything has changed since I hit the fabulous 30's.

I'm on my 11th month of OTC lo and I really like it. At first when I started the pill it actually helped my acne. I broke out for a few months while getting adjusted and now I just get an ocassional zit or two. I'm not sure if the pill completely helped wtih the acne because I used retin-a too. HTH
