I’ve been on the pill on and off for 12-14 years. Last night I felt a pain my right calf and freaked out thinking, what if it’s a blood clot from the pill, though it’s never happened before. I also exercise reguraly and last night took a long walk/jog. I took two aspirin and it went away. It wasn’t that bad but bad enough to where it made me think. This morning I felt it a tiny bit but nothing like in the middle of the night and now the pain is gone. Is this something to be concerned about?
What happens when you have a clot and how do you know?
Ms. Peanut

I don’t think you have anything to be concerned about but if it is still bothering you I’d talk to my doctor. You asked about the symptoms of a clot. This is from the Eckerd Drug advisory site, when i typed in the name of a oral contraceptive:
“The following symptoms or side effects may be related to blood clots and require immediate medical or emergency help:
•chest pain
•coughing up blood
•dizziness or fainting spells
•leg, arm or groin pain
•severe or sudden headaches
•stomach pain (severe)
•sudden shortness of breath
•sudden loss of coordination, especially on one side of the body
•swelling of the hands, feet or ankles, or rapid weight gain
•vision or speech problems
•weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, especially on one side of the body”
I hope you are feeling better. Tell us what your doc says, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
