Should I re-take the pregnancy test?
| Fri, 06-25-2004 - 10:08am |
I have been on the b/c pill, ortho-tricyclen for the last 5 years and have never missed a pill till now. I have always gotten my period on time for the same duration of time.
This month, I accidentally started the pack a day late (I put the pack in wrong position and took a placebo the first day instead of the correct pill), but I took the rest of the pills in the pack in order and on time, but it was started a day later than usual so I ended the pack a day later than usual. No back-up protection was used because I did not discover the error till I got to the end of the pack.

My period was a day late (started yesterday), but it’s been very very light and spotty. I took a pregnancy test yesterday, which was negative. Do I need to repeat the pregnancy test in a few days?
I have been under a lot of stress for the past couple of months, so I don't know if that has anything to do with this.
Please advise, and thank you for your help!

I don't think you have anything to worry about since Aunt Flo showed up. Starting a new pack a day late is not a good thing. If that happens again (and you notice the error) you should use back-up for at least 7 days of correct pill usage. If you want to get back to your normal start day just shorten your placebo week by a day. I don't think you need to retest, but if that would add to your peace of mind then test again in a week or so. I think you are ok.
Good luck,
Jill
