stopped OTC, have cramps, nausea
| Sat, 06-26-2004 - 11:25am |
This is my situation,
I started taking OTC - lo in early May, I stopped taking it one week ago, so I had taken OTC for about 6 weeks. About 3 days after I stopped taking the pill, I had sex. Now it is about the time when I should be starting my period and I have sharp pain in my abdomen and felt nauseous everyday this week. What is the liklihood of pregnancy, or is my body adjusting to not being on the pill anymore? Has anyone else experienced these symptoms after stopping the pill? I did not have any nausea or cramps when starting or stopping the pill, but now almost two weeks after stopping the pill, I am feeling horrible all the time.
Please offer some advice.
Thank you.

If you stopped your pills at the end of a pack and had been taking them correctly then you are probably ok. After taking 21 active pills correctly you can go 7 days without loosing your protection. If Aunt Flo is late you can test and see where you are. I hope you are using another effective method of contraception. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
Like you, I was on OTC-Lo up until the end of last week (I stopped near the end of my 2nd week of active pills). I stopped b/c, even though I was in my 3rd cycle on the pill, I was still having adverse reactions. I'm going to see my gyno on Tuesday to switch pills, but this is not the point...
In any case, after having stopped taking the BC, I'm still having minor cramps and some bloating. So you are not alone. From what I've heard/read, it can take some time for the sideaffects to wear off.
Good luck, hope everything works out well!
