I am on the pill, and have had a somewhat rough month with it. On about 4 instances I took my pill 2 - 3 hours later than normal time, which I know is probably not a big deal, but it's just not like me to do that. And I had diarrhea (tmi) due to food poisoning on one occasion, even though that occurred 2 - 3 hours after taking my pill so it could have already absorbed into my bloodstream. My fiance and I used backup after that for 7 days. Anyhow, my period is 1 day late, which has happened before, but being the worrier I am, it has started to freak me out. Here are my questions:
1. Does the cervix soften just prior to menstruation?
2. Could sex on the day my period should begin delay menstruation?
3. Because I took my last active pill 3 hours late, could that have delayed menstruation?
Thanks for your help!

1. Does the cervix soften just prior to menstruation? It opens a bit to permit the passage of your flow.
2. Could sex on the day my period should begin delay menstruation? My experience has been that IC just before or on the day AF should arrive will hasten her arrival. I think at that point movement of the uterus during IC can cause the endometrium to leak.
3. Because I took my last active pill 3 hours late, could that have delayed menstruation? I think it probably could and stressing about it might also be a factor. It’s usually thought that while on OCs stress plays a much reduced role in delayed menses but it could have some effect.
I think you should be ok. Let us know when AF arrives, ok?
