Missed Periods

I have been on the pill for about 5 years. I used to be really regular, like clockwork. But the past few months, it started when I started spotting while still on my active pills. Then the periods got lighter and lighter and now it stopped all together. I am on my last week of active pills and the other day I started really light spotting. Now it has gone away. I take my pill regularly, every night before bed. Nothing has changed. I took a pg test to be sure they were both neg. I even asked my gyno, he said that could happen on the pill. But, I am just not comfortable with it. I like having my AF regulary because I feel secure about my health and that I am functioning peoperaly, and able to have children. I feel kind of scared. The doc also said I have atypical cells on my cervix, so I may have to have some sort of tratment. Could this have something to do with it. I just know know if I should stay on the pill anymore? what should I do? any ideas?

Our bodies change as we age so the mix of hormones in your pills is probably holding your endometrium stable for a longer period than it used to do. If you want a monthly period then you could ask your doc for a pill change to one with less progestin or more estrogen. I don’t think atypical cells on your cervix would have anything to do with AF disappearing but you might want to ask your doc about that too. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
