Well..here it goes. I am new on this board and I am so happy that I found it!
Ok, so here is my question/concern? I am going tomorrow to get "the shot" and I am very nervous/scared.
Ok, so here is my question/concern? I am going tomorrow to get "the shot" and I am very nervous/scared.
This is the first time that I will use bc and I have read so many bad things about it on this board and other sites that I am not sure if I should go for it. I really dont want to try pills as birth control because I know that I will somehow screw up and therefore I decided that the shot would be more appropiate for me.
My main concern is gaining weight. (ok maybe that sounds shallow...but really) I have read about people gaining 30+ pounds and its making me nervous. If I get the shot tomorrow, then what? next week I am going to blow up? Please help me, any kind of feedback will be apreciated. Has anyone had any good experiences?
Thanks*

When you are reading about bad experiences with depo-provera (the "shot"), keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to different types of birth control. Some women have negative side effects from depo and others love it. It just depends on how your body reacts.
With that said, taking depo tomorrow is like gambling. You just don't know. Until you try it, you won't know how your body will react to it. In your situation (since you've never used birth control before), I would try a different, shorter-lasting birth control option such as the patch or the ring, both of which you can easily remove if you have negative side effects. If you do get the shot and react negatively, there's nothing you can do really until the hormones wear off which can take about twelve weeks.
It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor about options and dicuss your concerns before getting the depo shot or any other type of birth control.
Good luck!

Good Luck
