Okay, so I went to the drugstore lastnight and bought the Today Sponge. Looks pretty good. I read the instructions and it says that its best to find your cervix so you know exactly where the sponge is suppose to go. I tried and tried lastnight to find the darn thing!! I got so frustrated that I didn't even get to try the sponge out.

Where is my cervix? The insructions say your cervix feels like the tip of your nose, but all I felt was vaginal tissue everywhere. Maybe it's higher up? I couldn't reach it.

Someone please help me find this thing. I'd like to try the sponge out so I can you guys my report on it, but I gotta find my cervix first. Any tips?

If your cervix is further than you can reach try bearing down a little, this usually pushs your cervix down. The cervix has a about the same texture as the vaginal wall but it is firm when pushed agianst like your nose. The cervix is round and sticking in to the vagina a little. Mine always sits on the front wall of my vagina (toward my belly) almost out of reach. You can also try siting, or standing with one leg up on the toilet seat.

Good Luck!

Let us know how the sponge works.

Can all women reach their cervix? Maybe my finger just isn't long enough.

I think that tonight I'll try again. So, when I feel resistance and cant get any higher, that means I've reached it, right?

Hi chrissy_82, welcome!

You can also try squatting with legs spread a bit and, as the other poster said, push down as though you were having a bowel movement. Use the first two fingers of your hand to feel along the front wall of your vagina until you come to a firm cone shaped organ protruding into your vagina. That is your cervix. There will be a dimple (called the Os) in its tip which the opening through which menstrual fluid and fertile mucus pass out and sperm enters the cervix and uterus. The concave portion of the sponge should fit over the tip of your cervix. Do let us know how you like the sponge!

Good luck,

I find too that if I tip my hips forward it's a whole lot easier to reach. The cervix isn't pointed straight out the vagina at you (at least mine isn't), so when you find it you may actually be poking one side/the frong of it and the "dimple" is lower. If you think about it, the vagina can't be that long! If you're not on hormonal birth control, you may recognize the changes in your cervical position through your cycle, it's not always in the same place.

In my own opinion, EVERY woman should know where her cervix is and how to find it. ;) I hope you do!
