I'm on birth control and have been for about 9 months, sometimes I take it late though. Actually almost everyday I do. Well, now I,m experiencing some of the signs of pregnancy, such as, nausea, frequent urination, raging appetite, and mood swings.I just had my period 2 and a half weeks ago though. I had a friend who got pregnant while on birth control and she also had her period for two months after the fact. This is why this all concerns me. Could all of these symtoms be caused by the birth control itself or am I just going crazy. I really don't think I'm pregnant, but when there's amy chance at all I freak. Can somebody please ease my mind and tell me what's going on? Thanks.

Hi newlywed142004,

In your previous post you said you had been taking your pills anywhere from an hour to ten hours late. Anything later than eight hours is a missed pill. That is really not a good thing (it’s called user failure) and can reduce the effectiveness of your pills. I don’t think that after nine months on that particular pill you would be having these sorts of side effects because of the hormones in your pills. If I were you I would test to see where you are. If you aren’t pg you should seriously consider changing your method, at the end of your current pack, to Ortho-Evra http://www.orthoevra.com/ (the patch) or NuvaRing http://www.nuvaring.com/Consumer/index.asp (the ring) which are much lower maintenance hormonal methods. When you test I hope you get the result you want. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Hugs,

I would test. You can get pregnant while on the pill-especially if not taken correctly. However sometimes the pill can give you some of those symptoms-mood swings and nausea....

Hi!

I agree with the previous posts! first and foremost, TAKE A TEST! it can't hurt right? plus they're easy enough to do!

But more importantly, the efficacy of the pill depends entirely in proper use which includes taking it at the same time!! (part of the reason why i stopped taking it- i ALWAYS forgot). that being said, i do in fact know someone who did get pregnant while taking the pill because, while she took it every day, she NEVER took it at the same time!!

so take a test, and either get strict with yourself (like a mini alarm clock that you leave in the bathroom that goes off about shower time each morning to remind you to take it!) or try another form like the patch, the shot or the ring which doesn't depend on users!!

GOOD LUCK!

i hope you are doing well!
