Nursing Moms - NuvaRing Question

Hi all-
I'm considering getting the Nuvaring because my stupid health insurance doesn't cover the Mirena IUD AT ALL and it would be almost $1000 to get it.

Has anyone actually USED the Nuvaring while nursing? Did it affect your supply?
DD is now 10 1/2 months old and taking solids very well, but I recently stopped pumping due to low output. She is still nursing well at home (usually 4-5 times a day and once in the night) but I don't want to do anything that might shorten our breastfeeding relationship.

What should I avoid while using NuvaRing®?
Breastfeeding: The effects of NuvaRing® in nursing mothers have not been evaluated. If you are breastfeeding and considering using NuvaRing® for contraception, you should discuss this with your healthcare provider. Some of the medicine may pass through the milk to the baby and could cause yellowing of the skin (jaundice) and breast enlargement. NuvaRing® could also decrease the amount and quality of your breast milk.
Hope this helps!
Josie
PS Have you considered the minipill? Its a progestin only pill and doesnt effect breastfeeding. Also does your insurance cover the copper T IUD? It doesnt contain hormones.
