Another concern of mine is that on Thurdsday the 24th (during the 3rd month) I forgot to take my pill. I normally take my pills around 10 pm. That following Friday I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend around 11 am. I didn't realize that I forgot to take the pill until after we had already done it. So, I took it as soon as I could which was around 2 pm and I took my next pill at the normal time at 10 pm. This happened during the last week of my active pills. Luckily, I had an appointment to see my physician at the health center of my college that following Monday at 8 am. I told her what happened and she gave me the Emergency Contraceptive, which I took at 9 am and the second dose at 9pm. She also told me to throw out the active pill for that day since the EC will replace it, and to take the next pill on Tuesday at my normal time. Tuesday began my first day of inactive pills and I've been waiting nervously for my period to come. I've been having short amounts of cramping during this week, but still no period. My period came on a Friday for the first 2 packs of pills. So, my other questions are: Is cramping normal if you don't bleed? Normally when I start cramping I get my period immediately. And should I be expecting my period to come today since it is Friday? And could I be pregnant?? I took the EC around the 70th or 71st hour after unprotected sex. I read that you should take the EC with 72 hours, so am I still safe or was I too late? And is it too early to take a pregnancy test? And am I worrying too much??
I'm sorry that this post is extremely long! I just wanted to include all the details for clarification. If anyone had the patience to read this whole thing, what do you think?

It’s easiest on your body (and you are protected immediately) if you begin your pills on the 1st day of your period but you can begin at any other time. However, if you do, then you should use back-up since you must take your pills correctly for 7 days before you are protected.
If you took EC within 72 hours it is very effective. See the EC site at: http://ec.princeton.edu/ EC is a very large dose of progestin which could delay your period. Women who take EC sometimes get their periods a bit earlier or later but most see Aunt Flow about her usual time. Since you are new to your pills your body is still establishing the schedule for your period. I think your cramps are telling you your body is expecting AF any time now possibly complicated this cycle by the EC. I think you should be ok, but if after a week AF is a no-show then test to see were you are. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck and hugs,
Jill
