Hi,

I have been sick since Friday night, no vomiting but chills, body aches, severe headache and a really bad sore throat which is worse now but I am taking over the counter pills such as Aleve headache and sinus, Cepacol sore throat lozenges, Nyquil nighttime (at night) and Nyquil daytime (of course during the day). Anyhow, I wonder if these meds would be considered antibiotics and do they lower the effectiveness of the pill. I am not in any danger as I have not had IC in over one month but I was just wondering if I was should I be using backup methods during and 7 days after I stop the meds? I would be grateful for any insight. Thank you so much for your help.

Hi lucygirl2004,

I hope you are feeling much better soon! None of the things you listed will reduce the effectiveness of your OCs.

Hugs,

Thanks Jill (and Mrs. Frazier) for your responses. I know it may have been a dumb question but as I was using so many meds I had wondered if all together they were the equivalent of antibiotics that are prescribed. I will continue to use them without fear. I greatly appreciate it, I feel better (well, mentally, not physically) :-)
